Overview

This intercultural competence workshop is designed for health and mental health providers, trainers, coaches, managers, educators and community organizers working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. It is particularly valuable for leaders seeking to enhance or transform their organizational culture.

Objectives

1. Learn about surface and below-the-surface cultural factors that shape service delivery and service relationships.

2. Identify contrasting societal value systems of “progress” and care, and how they influence services, the relationship of service and our work.

3. Identify how cultural barriers prevent us from addressing root causes.

4. Increase awareness, confidence and ability to interact, serve and/or collaborate respectfully and effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
